§ Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Germany
The German Statistical Office keeps track of changes in consumer prices and annually publishes data on price increases for main goods and services. The main indicator of price increase is the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which shows the average percentage change in prices compared to 2020, taken as the base year for calculation.
According to the Statistical Office, in January 2024, the CPI was 117.6 %. Thus, the prices for all consumer goods and services in Germany have decreased by an average of 17.6 % compared to 2020.

§ Price Increase for Main Groups of Goods and Services
