§ How to Call Germany Correctly from Other Countries
To call Germany, first dial the international access code, then Germany's code 49, followed by the city code and the phone number.
The rules for calling Germany from another country vary. Usually, you dial the international access code first. It's different in each country, for example, in the USA, it's "011", then dial Germany's code "49", the city code, and the phone number. Note, when calling from another country, don't dial Germany's internal access code "0". For instance, if you dial 030-123456 within Germany, you should omit the initial "0" from another country, making it 30-123456. So, if you want to call a phone in Berlin with the number 123456, you would dial:
- From a mobile phone in any country: + 49 30 123456
- From the USA: 011 49 30 123456
- From Russia: 810 49 30 123456
