§ Brief overview of the Baden-Württemberg federated state
Baden-Württemberg is located in the very south of Germany and it is a warm and sunny part of Germany. This land is bordered by France and Switzerland. In the southern part of the federated state there is a very large lake - Lake Constance (in German: Bodensee). In the north-east of the state, vines are grown on the hills. In the eastern part of Baden-Württemberg there is the Black Forest (in German: Schwarzwald) – a forested mountain range, covered mainly with coniferous or beech trees; the highest mountain in this massif is called Feldberg (in German: Feldberg), it reaches a height of 1493 meters. Badeners and Swabians live on the territory of the state, most people speak the Swabian dialect of the German language here.
Economy and industry
Baden-Württemberg is a favorite vacation spot, many tourists visit this federated state every year. For this reason, most people work here in the tourism industry. Around Stuttgart, the capital of the state, there are many factories of large companies operating in the field of engineering and software. Firms such as Audi, Daimler, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz have factories or headquarters here. Thus, this region of Germany is very rich and people earn much more than in many other German federated states. Besides mechanical engineering and tourism, industries such as agriculture (fruit and grape growing), as well as nuclear energy production and mass media are of great importance in Baden-Württemberg.
