§ Brief overview of the Rhineland-Palatinate federated state
The federated state of Rhineland-Palatinate is located in the south-west of Germany, it is covered with dense forests, it has many castles and fortresses (more than 100). The Palatinate Forest (in German: Pfälzerwald), also called the Palatine Forest, located in the southern part of the state, covers an area of about 1800 square kilometers and is the largest forest in Germany. In Rhineland-Palatinate, there is a large wine-producing region of Germany Rheinhessen (in English - often Rhine-Hesse or Rhenish Hesse) (in German: Rheinhessen): it is sunny and warm, therefore not only grapes are grown here, but even figs and citrus trees.
There are also moderately high mountain ranges in Rhineland-Palatinate: the Eifel (in German: Eifel) and the Hunsrück (in German: Hunsrück), in the Hunsrück mountain range there is Mount Erbeskopf (in German: Erbeskopf), 816 meters high, which is the highest mountain in this federated state; and the largest lake in this region is Lake Laach (in German: Laacher See), located in one of the volcanic calderas at an altitude of about 300 meters above the sea level.
The town of Bad Dürkheim (in German: Bad Dürkheim) hosts the world’s largest wine festival, called Wurstmarkt (in German: Wurstmarkt) - (literally: Sausage market). Besides, on the territory of the federated state you can find the world’s highest cold water geysers, with the Andernach Geyser (in German: Geysir Andernach), shooting jets of its cold water in the air at a height of 60 meters.
In Rhineland-Palatinate, winemaking, as well as the cultivation of fruit trees and vegetables, are well developed. This federated state is also known for its world's largest chemical concern and precious stone processing.

§ Population of the Rheinland-Pfalz federated state
The population size in Rhineland-Palatinate totals 4'066'053 people. Of these, 2'006'503 are men, which is 49.3 % and 2'059'550 are women or 50.7 % of the whole federated state population. The population density of the Rhineland-Palatinate federated state is 205 people per 1 square kilometer.
